Astronomer HR Chief Kristin Cabot Resigns After Coldplay ‘Kiss Cam’ Video Sparks Viral Controversy
Just days after Astronomer CEO Andy Byron stepped down from his role, the company’s Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot, has also resigned amid ongoing fallout from a viral ‘kiss cam’ moment at a Coldplay concert.
The tech firm confirmed the departure in a statement to CNBC on Thursday: “Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer, she has resigned.” Cabot served as the company’s top HR executive.
The controversy began when a video surfaced of Byron and Cabot embracing while featured on the kiss cam during a Coldplay performance. The clip showed the pair looking surprised and immediately pulling away when they noticed themselves on the big screen. Frontman Chris Martin commented on the moment live, quipping, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The video quickly went viral, amassing over 100 million views across social media platforms and sparking public speculation about their relationship. Byron, who is married with children, faced intense scrutiny, leading Astronomer to announce an internal investigation and place him on leave.
Shortly thereafter, the company issued a statement confirming his resignation:
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”
Cabot’s resignation follows Byron’s and adds to the leadership shakeup at Astronomer, a company specializing in AI and data analytics solutions. Despite the unwanted attention, Astronomer emphasized its ongoing commitment to its work:
“Awareness about our company changed overnight, but we’re continuing to do what we do best — helping our customers with their AI problems,” the company said.
This incident has sparked discussions in tech and HR circles around workplace relationships, public image, and executive accountability in the age of viral media.
