Afghanistan vs Pakistan Highlights, T20I Tri-Series: Pakistan outplayed Afghanistan by 39 runs in the first match of the the T20I Tri-Series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In the chase of 183 runs, Afghanistan were bowled out for 143. Earlier, Pakistan posted 182 for 7 runs in 20 overs against Afghanistan, thanks to Salman Ali Agha's fiery fifty. Pakistan captain Agha won the toss and opted to bat first. The side lost wickets at regular intervals but Agha's fifty kept them going. Agha ended up scoring 53 not out off 36 balls with the help of 3 fours and as many sixes. For Afghanistan, Fareed Ahmad Malik was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets to his name but he leaked 47 runs in his quota of four overs. ( Scorecard)
That ends a highly one-sided game. It is a shame to be called such as Afghanistan were in really good contention at the halfway mark of the second innings. But as they say, while a good start paves the way for a good result, it is never over till the game is finished. And the Afghans lacked that finishing touch. They have a couple of days to think about that but as far as Pakistan are concerned, they don't have much time for a turnaround.
